Hungary took over the rotating presidency of the European Union this January for 6 Month. This role comes with a host of weighty and tedious responsibilities. But for the EU's smaller and newer members it is also a great opportunity to promote themselves and their virtues to a wider audience.

Hungary has a population of 10 Million and in recent years it has become a very popular tourist destination. Budapest is preparing to welcome approximately 40 thousand visitors - heads of states, prime ministers, an army of experts, assistants and interpreters , called as "EU tourists".
Prime Minister of Hungary has reportedly vowed to help boost European initiatives while also helping the national economy of Hungary. His plan is focusing on a full restructuring of the strategic objectives and plans to renew the economic boosting Szecheny Plan to help small and medium sized enterprises strengthen and form the backbone of the Hungarian economy, instead of relying solely on foreign direct investments to supply workplaces for the masses.


There are many attractions, not least in Hungary's beautiful and historic capital, Budapest. Apart from the hospitality, during a visit to Hungary, there are many interesting and exciting national dishes and Fine and Rare Wines, so you may even find yourself longing for them when you return home!
The good news is that are many Hungarian recipe books and cookbooks available, and with the help of one of these, you can learn to prepare your favorite Hungarian dishes at home. There are many different Hungarian recipes that you might enjoy, including:

Goulash: This soupusually containing onions, potatoes, peppers, and flavored with spicy paprika, herbs, and perhaps a little vinegaror wine. It should be noted that the Hungarian verison of goulash differs from the American adaptation, in that it is a soup not a stew, is made using beef shoulder, shank or shin, not hamburger meat, and is more tasty. Pan-fried goose liver:

Fish soup: A soup made from fresh water fish with onions and tomatoes, and flavored with paprika, pepper and white Hungarian Wine.

Dobos cake: The most famous of Hungarian desserts. Dobos cake is a five layer sponge cake that was originally invented by the famous Hungarian confectioner.
